JD Narrowboats of Stone - AboutJD narrowboats build shells up to 65ft length with traditional, semi-trad or cruiser bow, self-draining roof and a cambered front deck (for optimum drainage). Their generous basic spec includes an integral diesel tank, gas locker escape holes, tiller assembly and engine feet. Optional extras could include side and rear steel doors, and balancing slabs. The completed shell is inspected by an Inland Navigation Surveyor and issued with a Quality of Work Certificate. It's then delivered, primed and undercoated, by road to the boatyard of your choice. Whether you go basic of fancy, John and Darron's experience and friendly advice will guide you through every choice. Just remember - an expert's only someone who's made all the mistakes already! Wherever you locate your rooms, they'll be thinking of the best number of windows and roof vents to keep the boat light and airy. As to the choice of engine, John often recommends a smaller model - one that's still fine for river cruising but could save the customer hundreds.
God gave Noah seven days to build the ark, JD Narrowboats only take a little longer, turing a shell out on average every three weeks. Their order book's got fewer free slots than Stone Moorings, with just a few available. Deposits are payable one week before construction starts, with the balance due one week before completion. To complete the service, John will accompany you on your maiden voyage. Interested? You are welcome to pop around to Unit 20, Mount Road Industrial Estate where admist thunderous banging and showers of sparks, you can watch a narrowboat being born. And when does "it" become a "she"? John, whose Grandparents were bargees, and whose Father was born on a narrowboat, should surely know the answer. |
